Rosenior hails Joao Pedro and Palmer after Chelsea’s victory in Naples
Liam Rosenior hailed Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer after Chelsea’s 3-2 win at Napoli secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Blues were 2-1 down and heading for the play-offs, but Joao Pedro scored twice to turn the game on its head and take them through.
It was Chelsea’s fourth win in a row and fifth win in six matches since Rosenior was installed as head coach.
And he revealed afterwards that he has held plenty of discussions with forward Joao Pedro since taking over.
“He’s probably sick of my office,” Rosenior joked.
“I’ve said to him ‘If you play with intensity, with your quality the quality comes out’.
“The two goals were fantastic, but the way he held the ball up for the team, the way he sprinted and started the press – the harder you work, the better you are as a player, and I’m very happy to have Joao in our team.”
Palmer, back in the squad following his recent absence, was brought on at half-time and was involved in the build-up to both Joao Pedro’s goals.
“Cole’s performance was magnificent,” Rosenior declared.
.
“We need to look after him. Hopefully we can now see the best of him now that he’s fully fit.
“We need to see him absolutely relish nights like this on the big occasion.”
