Potter scores Chelsea winner on first WSL start
Teenager Lexi Potter scored the winner on her first Women’s Super League start as Chelsea beat Brighton 2-1 at Kingsmeadow.
Alyssa Thompson opened the scoring and Carla Camacho equalised for the visitors before Potter, 19, restored Chelsea’s lead late in the first half.
Thompson headed in Sandy Baltimore’s cross, before Camacho’s shot took a deflection off Lucy Bronze and beat keeper Hannah Hampton.
Baltimore also supplied the cross for Potter to finish – and the goal proved to be enough to secure three points for second-placed Chelsea, who are seven behind leaders Manchester City with five matches of the season remaining.
