Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino appears to have not ruled out Harry Kane returning to action against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Spurs and England striker has been sidelined with an ankle injury and is not expected to play this weekend.

Spurs announced on Thursday that Kane “continues to step up rehabilitation”, seemingly ruling him out of the match at Stamford Bridge.

However, speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Pochettino appeared to indicate there was some chance Kane could be involved.

He said: “We need to assess him. He is very positive and he is doing very well.

“Every day he is improving. We need to assess in the next few days. It’s difficult now to say yes or no. I cannot say no, but I cannot say yes.

“Maybe next weekend. But the most important is that we are so positive about his recovery, and we are doing fantastic, and we are so happy.”

Kane has been out since Tottenham’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth on 11 March.

“After Bournemouth everybody believed it would be a long period out, but the resolution has been fantastic,” Pochettino added.
