Chelsea Under-21s draw with Southampton

Chelsea: Tammy Abraham

Chelsea’s youngsters were held to a goalless draw by Southampton on Monday evening in the Under-21 Premier League.

Sam Gallagher missed a late penalty for the home side at St Mary’s, blazing over the bar after he had been fouled by Fankaty Dabo.

Otherwise, Chelsea looked the most likely team to break the deadlock, with Ola Aina and Mason Mount shooting over and Jordan Houghton firing narrowly wide.

After coming on as a late substitute, Blues striker Tammy Abraham (pictured) headed over from Kasey Palmer’s corner and, in injury time, hit the post after being found by Palmer’s fine pass.
