Palmer fit after apparent injury scare

Cole Palmer has been passed fit for Chelsea’s game against Everton on Saturday.

Head coach Enzo Maresca revealed on Friday afternoon that Palmer had “a mixed feeling” after training the previous day, but is “overall okay” and available for selection.

The England international recently returned to action after a long lay-off.

Defender Wesley Fofana has also been passed fit for this weekend’s match.

Fofana came on as a half-time substitute in this week’s Champions League game against Atalanta but had to go off after sustaining an eye injury during a challenge.

Maresca explained: “He is available. He is fine. He took part in the session yesterday and is completely fine.”

But Maresca admitted he is unsure when Liam Delap will be able to return to action.

The striker, who missed the early part of the season with a hamstring injury, suffered a shoulder injury during the recent draw at Bournemouth, condemning him to another frustrating spell on the sidelines.

“We don’t know yet. It could be two, three, four weeks. We don’t know exactly how many days he will need,” said Maresca.
