No replacement for De Bruyne planned

Chelsea have no plans to sign a replacement for Wolfsburg-bound midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

The 22-year-old is set for a permanent move to Germany after making only three league appearances for the Blues since being signed from Genk two years ago.

Jose Mourinho confirmed on Friday that De Bruyne is likely to depart, having made it clear he wants to leave Stamford Bridge.

And the Chelsea manager, who described the potential deal as “very good from a financial point of view for us”, says there is no need to bring in an alternative.

“We don’t need a direct replacement,” Mourinho said.

“The reason we have opened the door to negotiate is that we are in a position where we have options.

“Between Schurrle, Hazard, Willian, Mata, Oscar and Ramires we have options, so it’s not a case of selling somebody and then needing to cover the position.”
