Musonda nets as Chelsea youngsters hammer Celtic

Captain Charly Musonda was on target as Chelsea’s Under-21 thrashed their Celtic counterparts 5-0 in the Premier League International Cup.

The Blues scored twice in the first five minutes and by midway through the first half were 4-0 up.

Mukhtar Ali scored the opening goal from a cross by Kevin Wright, who then doubled the lead shortly afterwards after Kasey Palmer’s shot had been saved.

Ali set up Musonda for Chelsea’s third goal on 15 minutes and the home side continued their dominance when Palmer curled home a free-kick.

Celtic keeper Leonardo Fasan also made two good saves from Palmer during the first half to keep the score down.

Charlie Colkett, who was sent-off late in the game for two bookable offences, was also denied by Fasan after the break but Chelsea added a fifth in injury time as substitute Reece Mitchell scored a penalty.
