Charly Musonda and Kylian Hazard made influential contributions in Chelsea Under-23s’ 2-2 draw with Arsenal’s youngsters on Saturday morning.

The Blues went in front early on when Martell Taylor-Crossdale converted Josh Grant’s cross, but the Gunners levelled through Romanian Vlad Dragomir.

Musonda was included in the line-up at Aldershot after first-team boss Antonio Conte opted not to take him to the Premier League game at Bournemouth, despite playing 70 minutes against Everton in the EFL Cup in midweek.

The Belgian responded by twice going close to scoring in the first half, drawing saves from Arsenal keeper Deyan Iliev – who also denied Taylor-Crossdale, Jacob Maddox and Harvey St Clair.

Midway through the second half, Chelsea regained the lead as a Hazard shot was beaten away by Iliev, only for Dujon Sterling to net the rebound.

However Arsenal had the final say late on with Joe Willock’s injury time equaliser.
