Chelsea boss silent on Rooney reports

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has refused to comment on continued speculation that Wayne Rooney could end up at Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday that Mourinho has held off signing striker this month because he believes he may be able to capture Rooney from Manchester United during the summer.

United are confident the England star will sign a new deal at Old Trafford, but Chelsea are monitoring the situation.

Mourinho insisted: “I don’t want to speak about it. We play Manchester United in a few days and I don’t think it’s nice to speak about a Man United player.”

Pressed about Rooney’s contract negotiations at United, the Blues boss said: “You’ll have to ask the player and Man United, because they have a contract with the player that doesn’t end at the end of the season.”
