Mourinho loses appeal over fine and suspended ban

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has had his appeal against a £50,000 fine and a suspended one-game stadium ban dismissed by the Football Association.

Mourinho was given the punishment for comments made after his team’s 3-1 defeat by Southampton, when he said officials were afraid to award his side a penalty.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho said the Blues were “always punished” by officials because “there is always a question mark” from the media.

The ruling means another similar breach, before 13 October next year, will result in the stadium ban being activated.

Mourinho will be subject to a separate stadium ban for Saturday’s game at Stoke if he chooses not to appeal that sanction, which was given to him after he admitted charge over his language and behaviour during the defeat by West Ham on 24 October.
