Jose Mourinho believes Chelsea fans have played their part in the rejuvenation of Fernando Torres.
The much maligned striker has been in excellent form this season and was impressive again as the Blues came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 on Sunday.
And Mourinho says the Stamford Bridge faithful have helped Torres by supporting him when things have not gone his way in front of goal.
“The crowd know football and they know that a striker sometimes not scoring goals can give a big contribution for the team – and the way he is working for us is fantastic,” said the Chelsea boss.
“They are a very loyal crowd at Stamford Bridge. When they feel a player gives everything and works hard for them, they always praise. That is good and is a good feeling for a player.”
Mourinho was also delighted with Demba Ba’s contribution against the Saints.
Ba, on as a half-time substitute, gave Chelsea a physical presence up front alongside Torres and rounded off their victory with a late goal.
“Ba played well and he played well against West Brom too,” said Mourinho.
“He helped us to dominate the last part of the game.”
