Hazard deserves award, says Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho hailed Eden Hazard after the 2-0 win at Hull and expressed good-natured surprise that the Belgian had been overlooked for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.

Hazard was outstanding again, scoring the Blues’ all-important opening goal before Fernando Torres doubled the lead.

“Three consecutive times the man of the match is something nice,” Mourinho said.

“Let’s see if the Barclays Premier League decide to give him player of the month because maybe they do not like to go to Cobham (Chelsea’s training ground). The kid is waiting and the trophy is not arriving.”

The Belgian capped another mesmeric display with his ninth goal  in the league this season, and Mourinho was full of praise for his main creative midfielder.

“He is playing well for a long time,” Mourinho added.

“The club made a big investment on him last year to bring the player from France and pay the amount they did because Chelsea trust the player.

“And now the player is not any more a talented kid. He is now more that. He feels and accepts the responsibility and feels and accepts that a team player is more than a talented player.

“Without losing his fantastic ability and fantastic talent, he is giving us other things so the kid is in a very good moment of his career.”
