Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of Juan Mata in the next 48 hours after a deal was agreed in principle for him to move to Old Trafford.
United are set to pay around £37m for the Chelsea playmaker, who is ready to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Mata was the Blues’ player of the year for the last two seasons and remains a firm favourite among fans.
He moved to west London from Valencia for £23.5m in August 2011 and has made 82 Premier League appearances, scoring 18 goals.
But he has struggled to secure a first-team place since Jose Mourinho’s return as Chelsea boss and this season he has started only 14 matches, 11 of them in the league.
