Lampard hails Ziyech after Chelsea win

Frank Lampard says there is plenty more to come from the “forgotten” Hakim Ziyech following the winger’s impressive full debut in the 4-0 victory over FK Krasnodar.

Ziyech shone playing wide on the right in the thumping Champions League victory in Russia, scoring the third goal late on.

The Moroccan, who agreed to join from Ajax in January, was injured during the close season and missed the early stages of the campaign, but he looked increasingly sharp on his first start for the club.

Ziyech was effective cutting in from the right throughout, showing his vision and passing range, as well as his ability to run with the ball at pace.

“I’ve been very excited to get him on the pitch,” Lampard said. “And it’s been frustrating for me and for him that he hasn’t been able to start before tonight.

“Hakim’s performance was very, very good. He’s a player that likes to receive the ball, can score goals and go either way. We saw a lot of glimpses of the player he will be for us.

“He will get better. People may have forgotten about him a little since we signed him in January, but he certainly showed tonight what he’s about.”
