‘First class’ Pulisic struggling with hip problem

Boss Frank Lampard described in-form winger Christian Pulisic as “first class” in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace but said the American is struggling with a hip injury.

Pulisic’s fifth goal in five games wrapped up a convincing sixth Premier League victory in a row for the Blues.

“The only frustration is that he comes off with a bit of injury,” Lampard said of the 21-year-old.

“He was going to get subbed before he scored his goal because he has a bit of a hip issue but I am hoping it is not too bad because the way he is in full flow at the minute is great to see.”

Lampard said he always had faith Pulisic would come good despite a slow start to life in the top flight in England.

“He played some games early on and the pace of the Premier League is tough for any player and that has been proven time and time again,” Laampard added.

“But with Christian I always believed he had huge talent and would be a big player for us and he has absolutely shown that.

“I thought he was first-class today – as he has been recently – with his energy, movement with the ball, slipping past people, working off the ball, the quality and getting in areas and scoring, and getting in and around the six-yard box – which is huge for any player.”
