Marcos Alonso is the only Chelsea player included in the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Premier League team of the year.

Newly-crowned champions Manchester City make up almost half of the line-up, with former Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne included along with Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Another ex-Chelsea player, Mohamed Salah, is also included, having scored 30 league goals for Liverpool this season.

Tottenham boast three players in Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and England striker Harry Kane. The goalkeeper is Manchester United’s David de Gea.

Wing-back Alonso has been outstanding for Chelsea this season, scoring seven goals and producing a number of excellent performances.

But the Spaniard could face a three-natch ban after being retrospectively charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for a challenge on Shane Long during Saturday’s win at Southampton.

Meanwhile, three Fulham players – Ryan Sessegnon, Ryan Fredericks and Tom Cairney – have been named in the Championship team of the year.
