Mourinho keen to deliver more silverware

Jose Mourinho believes he can repeat the success of his first spell as Chelsea boss.

The man who famously labelled himself the ‘special one’ when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004 described himself as ‘the happy one’ at his first news conference since returning to the club.

Chelsea won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup during Mourinho’s three years at the helm.

And he is confident he can deliver more silverware this time around.

“I want to believe it is possible – I always trust my work,” he said.

“In this case I know many people who belong to the club and I know the type of mentality and ambition people have.

“My career has been built and raised on success. In every club I was able to achieve success and win trophies and leave different types of legacy.

“I have to believe in that. If we work well, normally success arrives.”

Since leaving the Blues in 2007, Mourinho, who has not spent more than three years at the same club, has delivered trophies while in charge at Inter Milan and then Real Madrid.

There has been speculation about the strength of his relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and scepticism about how long Mourinho’s second reign will last.

But the 50-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract, insisted he is looking to stay at the club for the long term.

He said: “I had this kind of mentality; I’m Portuguese and I love adventures like the Portuguese ones in the past – a bit of a navigator.

“But I’ve done what I wanted to do. I needed a special family – which I have – and they allowed me to move around Europe.

“I wanted to do it and wanted to win three most important leagues and cups. More than that I wanted the experience.

“It’s up to me to prove to the club that I can be here for four years. I hope to go to last day of this contract. If the club wants me to stay, I’m more than happy.”
