Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho praised his side’s character after they fought back from 2-1 down to rescue a point against West Brom.
Eden Hazard scored an injury-time penalty to ensure the Portuguese remained unbeaten in 66 Premier League home matches as Blues boss.
And Mourinho was happy with the performance despite dropping points on a frustrating afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
“In the first half West Brom did not cross the midfield line,” Mourinho said. “We didn’t create a lot because they defended very, very well.
“But the fact is we were the only team that tried to score and tried to win in the first half. When the attitude is this one, there is always a team that deserves to win more.
“In the second half, with the 1-0, we had more space. We had a couple of good situations.
“They scored a goal which was a funny one and the second goal was a big mistake by the ref – even a mistake where the fourth official said to me ‘you were right’. It was a big mistake.
“After that, the reaction was fantastic – a reaction that could have ended with a win. We created and missed a lot chances. We threw everything at them.
“The attitude in the first half was the correct one; be patient and wait. It is difficult to break a wall.”
