Joao Pedro’s equaliser rescues point for Chelsea against Hull

Joao Pedro’s equaliser rescued a point for Chelsea against Hull at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took the lead after seven minutes, Morgan Rogers firing the ball low into the net from the left following a quick break and an assist from Cole Palmer.

Despite Chelsea’s early dominance, Hull fought their way back into the game and Mohamed Belloumi volleyed home from a looping Ryan Giles cross from the left.

And the visitors soon led when Belloumi smashed in his second after a Semi Ajayi header from a corner came back off the bar.

Chelsea regained their composure and improved after the break, and were rewarded in the 66th minute when Joao Pedro finished impressively from another Palmer assist.

Palmer and Reece James both went close in the closing stages and keeper Emiliano Martinez made a fine save at the other end as Xabi Alonso’s side came under late pressure.

Chelsea: Martinez; Fofana (LaCroix 86), Colwill, Neto (Estevao 86), Pedro, Palmer, Rogers, Hato (Chavarria 45), James, Gusto (Welbeck 78), Lavia (Barco 70)
Subs not used: Penders, Gittens, Quenda, Acheampong.
