Eddie Howe believes Bournemouth’s unbeaten start to the season has provided optimism that the Cherries can emulate last season’s win at Chelsea.

The Cherries triumphed 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on their last Premier League visit, in January, and have recorded two wins and a draw from their three games so far.

“It’s been good so far,” said Howe, whose team are in the third round of the Carabao Cup after Tuesday’s win over MK Dons.

“I was really pleased to progress in midweek in the Carabao Cup. A lot of the players did very well. A positive result, it backs up our good early league form.

“Now the challenge gets harder. We go to Chelsea, we know how difficult the game’s going to be.

Bournemouth’s win was another low point in Chelsea’s season

“But we’re very keen to keep the momentum from what has been a really positive beginning.

“We’ve had good games against Chelsea and we’ve really enjoyed them. They’ve always been close and that should inspire the players.”

Chelsea were toiling under Antonio Conte in January, but now are under new management in Maurizio Sarri and Howe has been impressed as the Blues have won all three of their games so far.

“Chelsea have been very fluid, they’re well coached and managed and we’re expecting a tough game,” Howe added.
