Hazard and Marin score debut goals as Chelsea win in Seattle

Seattle Sounders 2 Chelsea 4

Eden Hazard and Marko Marin scored on their debuts for Chelsea, whose pre-season trip to the United States got off to an action-packed start.

Hazard got one of three goals in the opening 13 minutes in Seattle, where Romelu Lukaku netted twice and Frank Lampard returned to action.

The Blues took an early lead when striker Lukaku finished well after being set up by Josh McEachran.

Hazard then tricked his way down the left and scored with the help of a deflection, before a mistake by McEachran enabled the Sounders to pull one back.

The young midfielder’s wayward pass went straight to Fredy Montero, who fired past goalkeeper Hilario.

And Montero struck again on 33 minutes when he collected Mauro Rosales’ ball forward and slotted home.

But Chelsea hit back through Marin, who cut inside after receiving McEachran’s pass and saw his deflected shot deceive keeper Bryan Meredith.

Marin then turned provider, playing in Lukaku who rounded Meredith and steered the ball into an unguarded net.

Another Chelsea new boy, Kevin De Bruyne, was one of several half-time substitutes and quickly made an impact, darting in from the flank and shooting over.

Lampard, who missed Euro 2012 with a thigh problem, also featured in the second half.

And the England midfielder created a late chance for De Bruyne, only for the Belgian to shoot wide.
