Injured Hudson-Odoi to miss Champions League game

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out of Chelsea’s Champions League game against FC Krasnodar.

Blues boss Frank Lampard said on Monday afternoon that Hudson-Odoi picked up a hamstring injury in training and is unavailable.

So too is Hakim Ziyech, who is being assessed after going off with a hamstring problem during the first half of Saturday’s win over Leeds.

Lampard also revealed that keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been kept out of the side by Edouard Mendy, will play in Tuesday’s game.

So too will Billy Gilmour, who recently returned to action after a knee injury.

“Kepa starts. It’s a game for Kepa, who is training brilliantly well and acting brilliantly well,” Lampard said.

“These (bad) periods will happen in players’ careers. Sometimes they may be stronger and better at the other end. I’ve got no qualms about putting him back in.

“He’s training really well and that’s the main thing that I look at. I’m very pleased with that. His reaction has been absolutely spot-on.”

Meanwhile, Ziyech has indicated that he does not believe his injury is overly serious.
