Gallagher determined to stay at Chelsea

Conor Gallagher has insisted he wants to stay at Chelsea despite speculation about his future.

Tottenham have shown an interest in Gallagher, 24, and were tipped to make a move for him during the recent transfer window.

He stayed at Stamford Bridge, where he has 18 months left on his contract, but reports have claimed he could be sold as Chelsea look to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

However, Gallagher told Sky Sports: “We’ve got a really young squad, a lot of talent, a great manager, great coaches that just want the best for us.

“I really want to be a big part of it and hopefully get Chelsea back to where they belong.”

Chelsea have endured a difficult first season under boss Mauricio Pochettino – and lost Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley, where Gallagher missed a number of chances to score.

But the England international is determined to establish himself as a first-choice player.

Gallagher said: “There’s another year-and-a-half left on my contract and I absolutely love playing under the manager.

Playing almost every game has been incredible and that’s all I’ve ever wanted.

“Last season I was in and out of the team and it wasn’t as enjoyable for that reason and also not playing great when I was.

“I just want to keep playing as much as I can for Chelsea, keep trying to improve the club and try to be successful at Chelsea. That’s the plan for sure.”
