Dier faces fitness test ahead of Chelsea clash

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier will have a fitness test ahead of his side’s visit to Chelsea on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 21-year-old suffered concussion after a clash of heads with Craig Dawson during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion last Monday night.

He has trained this week and been monitored by the club’s medical staff, who will take a final check on Dier in the lead-up to the game at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham are already without Dier’s regular midfield partner Dele Alli, who starts a three-match ban for violent conduct for punching Claudio Yacob in the same game.

Nabil Bentaleb remains absent as he recovers from knee surgery, while Chelsea welcome back captain John Terry and fellow centre-back Gary Cahill.
