Chelsea defender Rudiger returns to action

Antonio Rudiger returned to action and Michy Batshuayi scored twice for Chelsea’s development side in a 3-0 win over Liverpool.

Rudiger, who had knee surgery in April, played the full 90 minutes of Monday evening’s game at Stamford Bridge, where Tino Anjorin scored the home side’s third.

Rudiger set up the opening goal with a ball over the top towards Batshuayi, who was clattered into by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher but recovered to finish superbly.

Out-of-favour striker Batshuayi struck again early in the second half, this time after being teed up by Anjorin.

Anjorin hit the bar and Tariq Uwakwe the post as Chelsea continued to dominate what was a largely one-sided game.

And Anjorin netted with 14 minutes remaining, collecting Batshuayi’s pass and firing into the bottom corner.
