Mourinho fined £50,000 by FA

Jose Mourinho has been fined £50,000 by the Football Association for comments made about match officials.

The Chelsea manager has also been given a suspended one-match stadium ban after claiming that officials were “afraid” to award his team penalties.

The ban will be enforced if he repeats the offence within the next year.

He made the comments after referee Robert Madley did not award Chelsea a spot-kick during their recent 3-1 home defeat against Southampton.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho said the Blues were “always punished” by officials because “there is always a question mark” from the media.

“If the Football Association wants to punish me they can. They don’t punish other managers,” he added.

  • England FA have foolish rules in football. No qualify referees in England. Mourinho was right.
