Boro keen on Loftus-Cheek loan deal

Middlesbrough want to sign Chelsea’s teenage midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan.

Boro manager Aitor Karanka, Jose Mourinho’s assistant when they were at Real Madrid, took youngsters Patrick Bamford, Kenneth Omeruo and Jamal Blackman on loan from Chelsea last season.

And this summer he is keen to land Loftus-Cheek, who made his Premier League debut against Manchester City in January and has made four first-team appearances in total.

Blues boss Mourinho previously indicated that the 19-year-old was part of his plans for next term, but more recently criticised his performance in a post-season friendly against Sydney.

A number of other Championship clubs are interested in Loftus-Cheek, who is currently with the England squad for the European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.

  • Better take Nathan Chalamar from Chelsea as he is top class and a real challenger for the midfield roll that Leadbetter and Clayton hold so competently.
