Late goal gives Chelsea youngsters win at Derby

Chelsea’s development side began their Premier League 2 season with a 1-0 win at Derby on Monday.

Marcel Lavinier (pictured) scored a late winner at Pride Park, where the visitors’ line-up included several players stepping up from Under-18 level.

Derby goalkeeper Henrich Ravas produced a number of saves before Lavinier fired home with five minutes remaining.

Juan Castillo and Tino Anjorin had both gone close for Chelsea before they eventually broke the deadlock.

The team’s next game is next Monday against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
