Chelsea give youngster Tomori four-year contract

Highly-rated Chelsea youngster Fikayo Tomori has signed a new four-year contract, the club have announced.

The 18-year-old defender made his senior debut for the Blues by coming on as a substitute against Leicester in the final match of last season.

He played a key role in helping Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup and Uefa Youth League – and scored in both finals.

And he is currently part of the first-team squad’s pre-season tour of the United States.

“It’s good for me; a confidence booster knowing I did well last year and being rewarded with a new contract. Now I’ve got to improve and show my worth,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“It’s been good to spend the pre-season with the first team, to learn from the older players and know what it’s like to be on a tour and see how they are preparing for the season.”

Tomori grew up in London and has been with Chelsea since the age of eight.

He was born in Canada and has played for them at Under-20 level.
