Conte: Chelsea must improve for cup final

Antonio Conte admitted Chelsea must improve dramatically on their display at Newcastle to have any chance at all of winning the FA Cup.

The Blues, who missed out on a Champions League place, ended their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park.

Chelsea were dismal and boss Conte acknowledged they face certain defeat against Manchester United at Wembley next weekend if they produce a similar performance.

He said: “For sure we must change. If we think we (can) play a game like this in the final of the FA Cup, we don’t have a chance. We don’t have a chance.

“We have six days to change our approach, our desire and our will to fight.

It was a woeful end to the league season for Chelsea

“For this I am the first person to answer for this as I am the coach of this team and after a game like this I am the first person to answer.”

Chelsea have been widely tipped to replace Conte at the end of the season but the Italian again insisted he expected to see out the final year of his contract.

“I am repeating always the same thing; I am committed to this club,” he said.

“I have a contract and the club know very well the situation.”
