Chelsea youngsters beat Spurs in Under-21 thriller

Chelsea: Tammy Abraham

Jake Clarke-Salter netted an injury-time winner for Chelsea’s youngsters as they beat Tottenham 5-4 in an incredible Under-21 Premier League match in which Andros Townsend scored twice.

Prolific striker Tammy Abraham (pictured) found the net once again for the young Blues and there were also goals for Fikayo Tomori, Kasey Palmer and Jay Dasilva.

Chelsea went ahead when Reece Mitchell collected a mis-hit clearance by Spurs keeper Tom Glover and teed up Abraham to score.

Shaq Coulthirst headed in an equaliser three minutes later but the visitors were back in front by half-time courtesy of Tomori’s close-range header.

And Abraham set up Chelsea’s third shortly after the break when he picked out Palmer, who made no mistake.

Tottenham pulled a goal back when Coulthirst scored his second of the match and they would have levelled had Bradley Collins not produced a fine save to deny Emmanuel Sonupe.

When Dasilva then made it 4-2 with a brilliant curling effort, Chelsea appeared to have sealed victory, but former QPR loanee Townsend scored with a penalty and then smashed in an 88th-minute equaliser.

However, there was yet another late twist when Spurs failed to clear a corner and Clarke-Salter pounced to score.
