Chelsea’s Brown shines in England Under-19 triumph

Chelsea’s Izzy Brown scored for England as they beat Croatia 2-1 to reach the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championship in Germany.

Brown gave his side an early lead by collecting a pass from Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo and evading two challenges before firing home.

Brown was also involved in the second goal when he crossed low from the left and defender Silvio Anocic turned the ball into his own net.

Fran Brodic pulled a goal back for Croatia but they were unable to prevent England making it three wins from three Group B matches.

Chelsea trio Tammy Abraham, Dominic Solanke and Fikayo Tomori were unused substitutes.

In England’s previous two group games, Brown and Solanke scored in a 2-1 win against the Netherlands, and Solanke scored when France were beaten by the same scoreline.
