Chelsea begin Uefa Youth League campaign with victory

Kasey Palmer scored two more goals as Chelsea’s Under-19s began their Uefa Youth League campaign with a 3-0 victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of the first team’s Champions League clash with the Israeli club.

Tammy Abraham scored the other goal in a one-sided game played in pouring rain at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

The defending champions went ahead after 20 minutes when Palmer, who scored a hat-trick for the Under-21s last week, fired in the opener.

Abraham was denied by a good save before Palmer made it 2-0 by steering home substitute Dujon Sterling’s low cross from the right.

And Abraham rounded off a resounding win for the hosts by scoring after rounding the keeper.
