Mourinho given stadium ban and fined £40,000

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match stadium ban and fined £40,000 by the Football Association.

The punishment, which means he will be absent for Saturday’s game at Stoke, relates to a misconduct charge over his language and behaviour in the defeat by West Ham on 24 October.

Mourinho was sent to the stands after going to speak to referee Jon Moss in his room at half-time.

The FA said Mourinho admitted the charge to an independent regulatory commission hearing on Monday.

Nemanja Matic had been sent off late in the first half at Upton Park, and Mourinho’s assistant first-team coach Silvino Louro was also dismissed for protesting the decision.

However,  the FA have withdrawn a misconduct charge against Louro.

Mourinho will still be in the dugout for Wednesday night’s Champions League game with Dynamo Kiev.
