Chelsea prevailed in a penalty shoot-out to beat London rivals Spurs and reach the final of the Carabao Cup. Here’s how we rated each Blues player.

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6

Rarely tested on a quiet evening yet still had to pick the ball out of the net after Tottenham’s only effort on goal. His save from Lucas Moura in the shoot-out was all important though.

Cesar Azpilicueta; 7

Provided the assist for Eden Hazard’s goal with an impressive overlapping run in the first half. Always solid defensively.

Antonio Rudiger: 7

Marshalled the aerial threat of Fernando Llorente well. A very composed display.

David Luiz: 7

At fault for Spurs’ goal, allowing Llorente to head home. His all-round performance was a good one though, capped by him scoring the winning penalty.

Emerson Palmieri: 8

A cracking performance at left-back which will surely have given boss Maurizio Sarri food for thought. Defensively solid, excellent going forward, and served up a brilliant late cross for Olivier Giroud, who should have scored.

N’Golo Kante: 8

The diminutive midfielder was at his best, with a scampering display, capped off by the opening goal as he shot through a crowd of bodies.

Jorginho: 7

Used the ball efficiently as ever in the Chelsea midfield, starting off plenty of attacks without ever really threatening to deliver a killer ball.

Ross Barkley: 6

Hasn’t been effective since the excellent spell early in the season which earned him in an England recall. He worked hard in midfield though and his quickly-taken free-kick led to the opening goal.

Pedro: 7

Had a useful game before making way for Willian with 15 minutes remaining. Always lively and was involved in the build-up to the opening goal when he combined nicely with Hazard and Azpilicueta.

Olivier Giroud: 7

His selection in attack brought the best out of Hazard, allowing the Belgian freedom. But Giroud featured little in front of goal before missing a glorious late chance.

Eden Hazard: 8

A brilliant display by Chelsea’s best player. Made use of extra space, was at the heart of everything the home side did and scored their second goal. Outstanding again.
