Swansea v Chelsea player ratings

Cesc Fabregas’ early goal was enough to give Chelsea victory against Swansea. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in their 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium.

Thibaut Courtois: 6

Rarely troubled. Comfortably dealt with whatever did come his way.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7

Faultless as ever, particularly during a second-half spell in which Chelsea were under some pressure and he won a number of challenges.

Gary Cahill: 7

Another solid showing from Cahill. The defender has struggled for form for much of the season but has done well since his recent recall.

Antonio Rudiger: 7

Also did well at the back. A crucial header from the German denied Andre Ayew.

Victor Moses: 7

Lively on the flank. His all-round display was very good, but he missed a great chance to score in the second half.

N’Golo Kante: 8

Vintage Kante. Swansea’s midfield could not match the Frenchman, who won countless challenges and created several openings by winning possession.

Cesc Fabregas: 8

His nicely-taken goal won the points for Chelsea and he also created a chance for Moses. Used the ball well and was a constant problem for the home side. A fine performance.

Tiemoue Bakayoko: 6

A mixed display. Unconvincing much of the time and the stray passes which have blighted his season were evident again. But he contributed when driving forward from midfield, underlining the fact that he is much more effective in a more advanced position.

Emerson: 7

Has looked the part on the left since coming into the side. Defensively sound and eager to get forward, his might have scored after a fine run but was unable to apply the finish.

Eden Hazard: 7

Set up Fabregas for the goal and always looked a threat with the ball at his feet, but will feel he should have scored at least one himself.

Olivier Giroud: 7

Not much came his way in terms of chances to score, but he linked play nicely and gave Chelsea an important presence up front.
