Pulisic scores twice in Chelsea win

Christian Pulisic scored twice and Pedro found the net in outrageous fashion as Chelsea beat RB Salzburg 5-3 in a pre-season friendly.

Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi also netted in Austria, where the visitors were three up at half-time.

Pulisic put them ahead after collecting Pedro’s perfect pass and finishing coolly.

After Pulisic was brought down in the box a couple of minutes later, Barkley tucked away the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-0.

Jérôme Onguéné headed in for Salzburg early in the second half but Pedro restored Chelsea’s three-goal advantage with a sublime goal shortly before the hour mark.

Again Barkley was the provider, brilliantly setting up Pedro, who finished by flicking the ball from behind him over his shoulder and into the net.

A clumsy foul by Davide Zappacosta, who had only been on the pitch for three minutes, led to Takumi Minamino pulling a goal back for Salzburg with a late penalty.

Batshuayi, also on as a substitute, smashed home Chelsea’s fifth with a couple of minutes remaining and Minamino pulled another goal back with the final kick of the match.
