Lampard refuses to be drawn on targets after transfer ban is lifted

Frank Lampard has refused to be drawn on which players Chelsea might sign now the club’s transfer ban has been lifted.

The Blues can make signings in January following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

They have been linked with a number of players, including Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha and England duo Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell.

Sancho has been touted for a possible move to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund and there has been speculation over the future of Leicester left-back Chilwell for some time.

And Chelsea manager Lampard laughed off a question about the trio at a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Asked if Sancho, Zaha and Chilwell would now be targeted, Lampard said: “I’m certainly not going to sit here today and go too far down any lines with that.”

He added: “We’ll see where we are. I’m happy with the squad we have here. I think we’re doing OK. My job is always to focus on the next game and what’s in front of us.

“In terms of the bigger picture and what we do going forward, of course that’s constant and it’s sometimes fluid, so there are no absolute answers at this point.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are hopeful that Tammy Abraham will be fit for Saturday’s game against Everton.
