Luiz: Sarri has not changed style

Chelsea defender David Luiz has hailed boss Maurizio Sarri as “a great human” – but dismissed suggestions a change of style by the Blues head coach has led to the recent improvement in results.

Sarri was reported to be on the verge of the sack prior to an impressive Chelsea display in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City and league wins against Tottenham and Fulham.

“The style didn’t change – I think we just adapt in some moments of the game,” Luiz said at a media conference on the eve of the Europa League game against Dynamo Kiev.

“In the first three months everyone was saying how Chelsea adapted very well. We forget that already – and now everyone is saying that nobody adapted.

“We had some difficult moments. The players and manager and the club are adapting very well.”

Sarri, meanwhile. has said he will rest players for Thursday’s game but is unsure whether Callum Hudson-Odoi will feature.
