Lampard and Gracia linked with Chelsea job

Stories in Thursday’s newspapers involving Chelsea…

Frank Lampard and Watford boss Javi Gracia have again been linked with Chelsea amid continued speculation over Maurizio Sarri’s future.

The Daily Express say Sarri fears could be sacked even if Chelsea win the Europa League.

The newspaper claim Gracia “is under serious consideration” after “impressing the Chelsea board” this season.

Meanwhile, The Sun and the Daily Star both pick up reports in Sarri’s native Italy claiming that former Blues star Lampard, who has just led Derby County to the Championship play-off final, has been chosen to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Daily Telegraph say a decision on Sarri’s future as head coach will not be made until after the Europa League final against Arsenal on 29 May.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea plan to send Gonzalo Higuain back to Juventus.

Chelsea have options to buy the striker or extend his loan for next season, but the Mail say the club will not be keeping him.

And Tammy Abraham is wanted by German club RB Leipzig, according to The Sun.

Striker Abraham has impressed this season on loan from Chelsea at Aston Villa, who want to sign him.
