Transfer gossip: Palace again linked with James

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs….

Crystal Palace have again been linked with Chelsea youngster Reece James.

The young right-back impressed on loan at Wigan last season and Chelsea want him to sign a new contract.

The Sun say Palace are keen to buy James or take him on loan as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was recently sold to Manchester United.

The Sun declare that Palace are “prepared to wait” until James recovers from an ankle injury – he is expected to be fit again next month – and until Chelsea get a verdict on their appeal against a transfer ban, which could deter the Blues from allowing players to leave.

Bees drop Maupay price, Sun claim

Brentford are ready to sell Neal Maupay to Sheffield United for £15m, according to The Sun.

Following reports that the promoted Blades were closing in on a £15m to buy the French striker, West London Sport revealed last week that Brentford want at least £20m.

The Sun, though, claim the Bees have dropped the price from £22m to £15m and that Maupay is set to make the move.

The newspaper declare that Brentford have “slashed the asking price” because of Maupay’s desire to play in the Premier League.
