Transfer gossip: Chelsea linked with Bundesliga defenders

There is speculation over who Thomas Tuchel might want to bring to Chelsea following the German’s recent appointment as head coach.

German newspaper Bild have reported that Tuchel will look to strengthen his centre-back options and is keen on Bayern Munich duo Niklas Sule and David Alaba as well as RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.


All three players were linked with Chelsea prior to Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Bild’s story has been picked up by a number of UK newspapers, including the Daily Mail.

The Guardian say Chelsea will attempt to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Alaba.

The Austrian defender has been widely tipped to move this summer as he is coming towards the end of his Bayern contract and has not agreed a new deal.

Real are said to be favourites to sign him but Chelsea reportedly plan to also make him an offer.

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland is another player the Blues have recently been linked with.

The Daily Star say Manchester City believe that winning the Premier League would enable them to beat Chelsea to the signing of the Norway forward.
