Transfer gossip: Chelsea ‘willing to offer £15m less than Havertz asking price’

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea …

Chelsea are willing to offer £15m less than Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price for Kai Havertz, the Daily Express say.

It is claimed that Chelsea are ready to offer £75m for Havertz but that Leverkusen want £15m for him.

The Express claim this could result in the winger instead joining Liverpool or Manchester United.

The newspaper declare that the Blues’ “transfer maestro” Marina Granovskaia will have to negotiate a deal or manager Frank Lampard “might be forced to see Havertz rock up at one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals” next season.

Keeper speculation

Chelsea: Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea also continue to be linked with goalkeepers amid speculation over the future of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

A host of keepers have been touted as a possible replacement for Kepa, whose omission by Lampard earlier this season led to reports that the Spaniard could be sold.

Football Insider claim Chelsea are considering a move for Southampton’s Fraser Forster.

And Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim Chelsea are interested in Roma’s Pau Lopez.

The Telegraph say Lampard will assess Kepa during the final matches of the season before deciding whether he wants to keep him.

That prompted the Express to declare that Kepa has nine games to prove his worth.

Sarri and Jorginho ‘have not spoken’

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho

Jorginho continues to be linked with a move to Juventus.

The midfielder has played under Juve’s former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri at both Chelsea and Napoli and has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge and join him in Turin.

However, The Athletic reports that the pair have not spoken since Sarri left Chelsea last summer.

Alonso linked with Newcastle

Chelsea: Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso is being linked with a potential move to Newcastle.

Alonso has been linked with a return to his native Spain and is among several players expected to leave Chelsea when the transfer window reopens.

But The Express say he has been lined up as a possible signing by Newcastle for after a proposed takeover of the Tyneside club is completed.

Chelsea want six sold, Sun say

There continues to be speculation over which players could be sold by Chelsea to make room for new signings.

The Sun say the club are looking to offload six players in order to fund the signings of Havertz and Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell.

Those players are Tiemoue Bakayoko, Emerson Palmieri, Davide Zappacosta, Danny Drinkwater, Michy Batshuayi and Victor Moses.
