Alonso wants new Chelsea deal, Sun on Sunday say

Stories in Sunday’s newspapers involving the area’s clubs…

Marcos Alonso is open to signing a new contract at Chelsea following his recent recall, according to The Sun on Sunday.

Alonso was frozen out by former boss Frank Lampard and was widely tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.

He has since been brought in by new boss Thomas Tuchel and has kept Ben Chilwell out of the side.

Alonso is now said to be keen to sign a contract extension to stay at the club.

And the Daily Star Sunday claim striker Erling Braut Haaland will demand a five-year package worth £78m if he leaves Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea are among Premier League clubs to have been linked with the Norwegian.

Meanwhile, Leicester are weighing up a summer move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, the Sunday Mirror say.

Toney, who is currently nursing an ankle injury, has been outstanding for the Bees since arriving from Peterborough.

The Sunday Mirror say Leicester see him as a potential long-term replacement for Jamie Vardy.

The newspaper also declare that Brentford are aware of “growing interest” in Toney and could “face a battle to keep him” if they do not secure promotion this season.
