Transfer gossip: Chelsea keen on Maguire, Sun claim

Stories in Saturday’s newspapers involving Chelsea…

Chelsea are among clubs keen on Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, The Sun claim.

The newspaper declares that Leicester’s game against Chelsea on Sunday could be Maguire’s final appearance for the Foxes.

The Sun say he is wanted by Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal and also suggest Chelsea could target him if the club succeed with an appeal against a transfer ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Leicester apparently want £60m for the England international.

Meanwhile, there continues to be speculation over the future of Chelsea star Eden Hazard – The Independent say he is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid.

Signing on-loan Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on a permanent deal this summer is a priority for Everton boss Marco Silva, the Daily Mirror reports.

Chelsea plan to select Mason Mount during pre-season and have applied for a visa for the youngster to join the club’s trip to Japan, The Sun reports.

And the Daily Mail say Maurizio Sarri has “risked the wrath” of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich by suggesting the club’s friendly in the United States could jeopardise their chances of winning the Europa League.

Chelsea, who will face Arsenal in the final in Azerbaijan on May 29, are due to play against New England Revolution on May 15.

Blues head coach Sarri said after the semi-final win against Eintracht Frankfurt: “Unfortunately we have to go to the United States but we have 10 days to prepare for the final and we have to recover energy.

“We go there for a good reason, so as a man I am very happy to go. As a coach, of course, I am a little bit worried because I know very well that the team now needs rest. So it is not the best way to prepare the final, I think.”
