Southgate to monitor Hudson-Odoi, Mail say

Stories in Saturday’s newspapers involving the area’s clubs…

England boss Gareth Southgate will be at Anfield to watch Chelsea’s game against Liverpool in order to monitor Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail say the original plan was for Hudson-Odoi, who made his senior international debut last month, to be included in the England Under-21 squad for the European Championships in Italy and San Marino this summer.

But Southgate is said to be revising that plan in light of Tottenham’s England captain Harry Kane being sidelined by an ankle injury.

The Mail say Southgate wants to look at his options without Kane and that Hudson-Odoi could be in contention for a place in the squad for the Nations League in June, which Kane reportedly only has an outside chance of being fit for.

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke continues to be linked with the manager’s job at Fulham.

Claiming an exclusive, the Daily Express say former Chelsea man Clarke is being lined up to take over at Craven Cottage this summer.

And The Sun say Fulham are confident of keeping Aleksandar Mitrovic despite the club’s relegation back to the Championship.

The Serbian striker has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs as well as a potential move to China.
