Transfer gossip: Gabriel still being touted for move

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

It is claimed that Chelsea have been joined by Real Madrid in a race to sign Lille defender Gabriel.

The Brazilian has been touted for a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea supposedly interested and Arsenal also having been linked with him.

Now The Sun have picked up on Spanish newspaper AS reporting that Real are interested in Gabriel.

The La Liga giants have apparently identified him as a possible back-up option after RB Leipzig reportedly told Real that Dayot Upamecano would cost £54m.

Havertz also linked

Chelsea are among three Premier League clubs keen on Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz, it is claimed.

The Blues, Manchester United and Liverpool are all interested in Havertz, according to The Sun.

It is claimed that the midfielder was valued at close to £100m prior to the Covid-19 crisis.

Chelsea want Mbuyamba, says agent

Chelsea are leading a race to sign Dutch centre-back Xavier Mbuyamba from Barcelona, according to the 18-year-old’s agent.

Carlos Barros told Voetbal International that several clubs are keen on the player. The story has been picked up by the Daily Mail.

Barros is quoted as saying: “Real Madrid are also there, they are serious about their youth system, but that would of course be a sensitive switch.

“Juventus and Inter are interested, as are top clubs from Germany and England. Chelsea have the best papers. Of course we discussed this extensively last year.

“Chelsea gave a fantastic presentation. There is a unique football atmosphere there. You immediately sit with the first-team players during lunch and the club has outlined a very ambitious plan for Xavier.”

Sancho speculation continues

Chelsea continue to be linked with Jadon Sancho.

The Daily Mirror run a story based on comments by Borussia Dortmund’s head of sales, marketing and business development Carsten Cramer.

Cramer said: “Usually at this time of year the squad for next season is already done. Maybe you sell some players but the plans are done.

“Everyone has to be as flexible as possible. I’m very sure the business on loan will become of higher relevance than periods before and for sure it will take a longer time to plan your squad.

“I’m very, very sure that not on July 1 or even August 1 your team is done. Flexibility is very important, patience will be important.

“I’m very sure the expectations of high fees will go down as well.”

The Mirror reckon this has “offered some hope” to Chelsea and Manchester United in their apparent attempts to sign Sancho.

Moses’ future

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte reportedly wants to tie up deals to sign both Emerson Palmieri and Victor Moses from his former club Chelsea.

Moses has been on loan at the Serie A club, while Emerson continues to be linked with a return to Italy.

The Daily Express say Inter are reluctant to pay for Moses given that his Chelsea contract expires next year.

The Sun have followed that up by declaring that Chelsea are struggling to offload Moses because Inter do not want to pay the £10.75m fee involved.
