Transfer gossip: Arsenal now said to be favourites to sign Willian

There continues to be speculation over the future of Willian.

The winger’s Chelsea contract is due to expire this summer and he has been linked with several clubs.

A number of UK outlets, including the Mail, have picked up on ESPN in Willian’s native Brazil reporting that he is keen to stay in London and that Arsenal are favourites to sign him.


Coutinho speculation

There also continues to be speculation over the future of Philippe Coutinho.

Chelsea are among several clubs to have been linked with the former Liverpool forward, who is on loan at Bayern Munich from Barcelona.

Reports recently claimed that Chelsea had been offered the chance to sign Coutinho and that talks had taken place about a potential deal.

Now Newcastle are being linked with him ahead of a takeover of the Tyneside club by a Saudi-led consortium.

The Daily Mirror have picked up on a story by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claiming that Newcastle’s prospective new owners are willing to pay £110m in order to sign Coutinho.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail suggest Chelsea will not pursue a deal for Coutinho and are looking at other targets.


Mertens still being linked

Chelsea are still being linked with Napoli forward Dries Mertens.

Several UK newspapers have picked up on Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has spoken to the Belgium international.
