Transfer gossip: Chelsea again linked with Romagnoli

Some of the recent transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

Maurizio Sarri will tell the Chelsea hierarchy he believes the club need to sign at least one defender in order to seriously challenge for the title, the Daily Telegraph have reported.

Sarri has consistently suggested that his side’s defensive shortcomings mean they are currently a level below Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City.

The Telegraph say Chelsea are expected to strengthen in January and suggest they could go for AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.

That has prompted The Sun, which has been linking Romagnoli with Manchester United, to claim that the Blues could “get one over” United by signing the Italy international.

Hazard speculation

The Telegraph also say Eden Hazard is “waiting for a signal” from Real Madrid before deciding his future.

It comes after Hazard said he was torn between signing a new contract at Chelsea and leaving the door open to a potential move to Real.

The Telegraph believe Hazard has shelved contract talks and is waiting for Real to promise him that they will make a big offer for him next summer.

If they do, the Telegraph say, then Hazard, who will then only have one year on his contract remaining, is likely to tell Chelsea he wants to leave and will not sign a new deal.

Real have consistently been linked with Hazard despite having never made an offer for him.

Villa linked with Hudson-Odoi

Aston Villa have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Birmingham Mail has picked up on online rumours suggesting that the teenager is wanted by Villa, where fellow Blues forward Tammy Abraham is currently on loan.
