Chelsea want Fabregas to sign new deal, Times say
The Times say Chelsea are ready to offer Cesc Fabregas a new contract amid renewed interest from Manchester United in the midfielder.
United’s former Blues boss Jose Mourinho has often been tipped to move for Fabregas since taking over at Old Trafford.
The Times believe United want to sign the 30-year-old Spaniard and that Chelsea are looking to secure his future at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas has 18 months remaining on his current deal.
The Times say he wants to sign for an additional two years but could settle for a shorter deal given that Chelsea’s general policy is to offer only one-year extensions to players over the age of 30.
The Times also reports that Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham is ready to commit his international future to England.
Striker Abraham, who is on loan at Swansea City, is also eligible to play for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say Chelsea are inviting potential backers to Stamford Bridge to discuss major sponsorship deals.
And The Sun declare that Rome police are on “red alert” ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League match against Roma.
It is feared that around 200 potential hooligans will travel to Italy and that Chelsea fans will unite with supporters so they can ambush Roma supporters, The Sun claim.
